Capt. Eric Kellum is a native of Beaumont, Texas.  Eric entered the Navy in 1991 as an Enlisted Machinist Mate.  He was accepted to the Naval Academy and graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He also received his Master’s Degree from University of Houston, Clear Lake.

As a nuclear qualified Surface Warfare Officer, Eric has completed 7 overseas deployments.  He has served as the Gunnery/Missiles Officer on USS SHILOH (CG-67), the Reactor Mechanical Division Officer and Main Propulsion Assistant on USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70), Operations Officer on USS OAK HILL (LSD 51), Reactor Mechanical Assistant on USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65), XO and Commanding Officer on USS FORT MCHENRY (LSD 43), Reactor Officer on USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75) and Commanding Officer on USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24).

Capt. Kellum’s shore assignments include OIC of the Texas Maritime ROTC Unit in Galveston, TX, Junior Board Member of the Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board, East, the Executive Assistant to the Director of the Naval Nuclear Power Program for CVN Operation and a Division Chief in the Deputy Director of Global Operations Joint Staff (J39). He is currently assigned as the Chief of Staff of Commander Expeditionary Strike Group Two out of Little Creek, VA.  

Capt. Kellum’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
