About Us


Commander, Naval Beach Group (NBG) 2 prepares task organized amphibious forces, including expeditionary, combat support and combat service support units that are tailored to be effective, flexible, and responsive to theater requirements in support of geographic combatant commander demands. 

NBG-2 is an Immediate Superior In Command (ISIC) staff that supports four subordinate commands that provide 100% of the amphibious connector support to the Atlantic Amphibious Fleet:

  • Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4operates Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), which are hovercraft that can deliver 60 tons of cargo & vehicles and travel at speeds of more than 40kts.

  • Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 2 operates Landing Craft Utility (LCU), Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM), and MPF Utility Boat (UB) displacement craft that support Amphibious Assault as well as Maritime Preposition Force (MPF) operations.

  • Amphibious Construction Battalion (ACB) 2 provides the unique combination of ship-to-shore and light to heavy construction capabilities ... the "Amphibious SeaBees"!

  • Beachmasters Unit (BMU) 2 owns the beach! Their Beach Party Teams are the first ones on the beach, set up the beach, and direct the throughput from the beach to the front lines.

MISSION
Organize, man, train and equip CNBG-2 forces to execute, combat support, and combat service support missions across the full spectrum of Assault Echelon, Assault follow-on Echelon, Maritime Pre-positioning Force, Peace Time Littoral Presence, Foreign Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief, and Rear Echelon operations in the coastal, hinterland, and littoral environments.

    • Accountability:  Keep the highest standards for yourself and others. You are answerable for your actions and those under your charge.
