Commander Collins is a native of San Jose, CA and graduated from the Naval Academy in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in English and Chemistry.

She completed division officer tours in Yokosuka, Japan as Auxiliaries Officer on USS COWPENS (CG 63) and Navigator on USS CURTIS D. WILBUR (DDG 54).

Ashore, she served with the Air Force in Ramstein, Germany, as a desk officer in OPNAV N134, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and as Flag Aide for COMLOGWESTPAC/CTF-73 in Singapore.

As a department head, she served as Chief Engineer on USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) and USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) in Norfolk, Virginia.  Before reporting to USS Hershel ‘Woody’ Williams, she served as the executive assistant for the Director of Maritime Headquarters, SIXTH FLEET in Naples, Italy. 

Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit awards.
