CMDCM (AW/SW/IW) Claude M. Henderson
Command Master Chief, Carrier Strike Group TEN
Command Master Chief Claude M. (Hendu) Henderson is a native of Harlem, New York; he joined the U.S. Navy in September 1990. Following completion of Recruit Training Command, he attended Fire Controlman “A” School and Close-In Weapons “C” School at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, IL .

Master Chief Henderson’s first sea tour in 1992 was onboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) home ported in Norfolk, VA. He made numerous deployments during this tour and advanced to Second and First Class Petty Officer. Following sea duty, he returned to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes in 2001 as an Instructor at FC “A” School. During his tour, he was selected as Chief Petty Officer and earned his Master Training Specialist Qualification.

In August of 2004, he reported onboard the USS Essex (LHD 2) forward deployed in Sasebo, Japan where he was the CS-7 division Leading Chief Petty Officer. In 2006, he departed Japan and reported onboard the USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). During this tour, he was selected and sent on an Individual Augmentation to Iraq with the Sea Ram Battery Unit for one year. Upon his return to Vinson, he filled in as the CS7 Division Officer during the ship’s Refueling Complex Overhaul at the Northrop Grumman Shipyard in Newport News, Va. In November 2009, he reported to the USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) as the Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and advanced to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Following the successful completion of the Senior Enlisted Academy course in Newport, RI, he reported to Afloat Training Group Norfolk, where he served as the Carrier Team Leader and the command Safety Officer. He was promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer and selected to Command Master Chief. In April 2015, he attended Command Leadership School back in Newport, RI, completing the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course. His CMC tours include Strike Fighter Squadron TWO FIVE in Lemoore, CA and NAVSUP FLC Norfolk. CMC Henderson reported onboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in June 2019.
