Col Mallicoat graduated from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina with a degree in Criminal Justice and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1996.
Col Mallicoat's operational assignments include Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer, Golf Company and Combined Anti-Armor Team Commander, Weapons Company, 2d Battalion, 8th Marines with deployments to Okinawa, Japan; Weapons and Kilo Company Commanders, 3d Battalion, 3d Marines in MCB Kaneohe Bay, HI with deployments as Fire Support Coordinator, Battalion Landing Team 3/3, 31st MEU(SOC) in the western Pacific, and during Operation Enduring Freedom-V as part of Task Force Trinity in Paktia, Logar and Laghman Provinces of easter Afghanistan; Commanding Officer, Fox Company Anti-Terror Battalion, 4th Marine Division in Lafayette, LA; Officer in Charge, Jordan Operational Deployment Program in Amman, Jordan; and Marine Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer, Marine Corps Forces, Pacific with deployments to Guam, Saipan and Tinian supporting typhoon response operations.
Col Mallicoat's non-operational assignments include Series Commander and Company Executive Officer, India Company, Company Commander of Kilo Company, Headquarters Service Company Commander and Battalion Operations Officer, 3d Recruit Training Company, MCRD Parris Island, SC; Inspector/Instructor, Marine Corps Reserve Center, Lafayette, LA; G-3 OEF Ground Operations Officer, Senior Watch Officer and Chief of Operations, Marine Corps Forces, Central Command in Tampa, FL with deployments to Camp Leatherneck, AFG and MARCENT-Forward/5th MEB in Bahrain; MARCENT Liaison Officer to Military Assistance Program-Jordan at US Embassy, Amman; Middle East Desk Officer (IMA) and Instructor, Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group in Fort Story, VA; and European Future Operations Officer (IMA), Marine Corps Forces, Europe and Africa in Stuttgart, Germany.
Col Mallicoat is a graduate of the Infantry Officer's Course, Sniper Employment Officer's Course, Small Arms Leader's Advanced Marksmanship Course, Amphibious Warfare School (Nonres), U.S. Army Field Artillery Center Career Captain's Course, Marine Corps Command and Staff Course (seminar), and the Air War College (TLS).
Col Mallicoat's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Col Mallicoat assumed his current duties in August 2023.
