Capt. Douglas Cole is a native of Vinita, Ok.  He reported to Recruit Training Command San Diego in October 1988.  After recruit training, he completed Interior Communications Electrician “A” school in July 1989.  He served as an Interior Communications Electrician in USS John Rodgers (DD 983), USS Dahlgren (DDG 43), USS Briscoe (DD 977), USS Defender (MCM 2), SIMA Mayport, and USS O’Bannon (DD 987) from August 1989 to May 1999. He was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program in December 1998 and graduated in 2001 from the University of North Florida with a B.S. in Statistics. He is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, at Fort Leavenworth, Ks.

Afloat, Doug served his division officer tour on USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) as the Damage Control Assistant. After completing Department Head School, he served as the Engineering Officer aboard USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) and USS Mobile Bay (CG 53). Additionally, he served as Auxiliaries Officer on USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75).  After screening for XO/CO fleet-up, he completed a successful Executive / Commanding Officer fleet-up tour at Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron THREE in July 2022. Following command, he served as the Chief Staff Officer of Amphibious Squadron ONE in San Diego, CA.

Ashore, Doug served Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville where he was an Officer Recruiter and Legal Officer. Following his department head tours, Doug served as the Future Operations Officer on the staff of Naval Surface Forces Atlantic, and the Surface Division Head at the Naval Safety Center.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (8 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various campaign and service awards.
