Commander Greg Grubbs is an Amphibious Warfare Tactics Instructor, who earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Studies from Virginia Tech and was commissioned in May 2003. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Joint Command, Control, Computers, Communication and Intelligence (C4I) from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. CDR Grubbs reported to Beachmaster Unit TWO as Executive Officer in September of 2021.
Commander Grubbs has served at sea as Executive Officer in USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24), Combat Systems Officer in USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20), Training Officer in USS MASON (DDG 87) and Communications Officer in USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55). During these tours, he deployed in support of Operations Zircon Storm, Odyssey Dawn, Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch and New Dawn.
Ashore, he has served as Deputy Future Operations Director on the staff of Commander, U.S. SECOND Fleet; as Head of Tactics and Doctrine Development at the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center’s Amphibious Warfare Division; as Flag Secretary, Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration, and Future Operations Director on the staff of Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group THREE; as the Commander of Task Group 68.4 (Naval Expeditionary Task Group Europe and Africa), where he oversaw security operations for military aircraft and cargo ships throughout the U.S. SIXTH Fleet Area of Responsibility; as Officer-in-Charge, Charlie Company, Coastal Riverine Squadron THREE; and as an Advanced Shiphandling and Tactics instructor at the Surface Warfare School Command in Newport, Rhode Island.
Commander Grubbs’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), the Battle “E” Ribbon (two awards), the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (five awards), as well as various unit and campaign awards.
