Commander Brian “Buffy” Guest, is a native of Scottsdale, AZ and a 2007 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering.  He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. In January of 2009, he received his Naval Aviation designation in Pensacola, FL.

In 2009, Commander Guest reported to the “Airwolves” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light FOUR ZERO (HSL-40) in Mayport, FL to complete Fleet Replacement Squadron Training.  His first operational assignment was with the “Easy Riders” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light THREE SEVEN (HSL-37), located in Kaneohe Bay, HI, flying the SH-60B where he completed multiple deployments to the Seventh Fleet AOR.  He completed subsequent tours with the “Seahawks” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR ONE (HSM-41) in San Diego, CA as an MH-60R Instructor Pilot, and the “Spartans” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN ZERO (HSM-70) for his aviation department head tour in Jacksonville, FL.  Additionally, he was assigned to the USS America (LHA 6) as the Safety Officer in San Diego, CA. 

In May of 2023, CDR Guest joined the “Skylords” of TACRON 22 as the Executive Officer.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
