CAPT Marc Davis graduated from the Naval Academy in 1998, with a degree in Naval Architecture Engineering.
Afloat he served as Combat Information Center Officer, 1st Lieutenant and Operations Officer on USS O’BANNON (DD 987); as Electrical and Auxiliaries Officer on USS SAMUEL B ROBERTS (FFG 58); Chief Engineer on USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53); Chief Engineer on USS PRINCETON (CG 59) and Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of USS MAHAN (DDG-72).
Deployed ashore CAPT Davis served in Puerto Rico, Panama and Colombia as a liaison officer; as a Campaign Planner with the International Security Assistance Force headquarters CJ5 shop in Kabul; the Chief Staff Officer of PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP 2019 throughout Southeast Asia; and the Maritime Humanitarian Assistance Survey Team Lead for DoD’s response to Super Typhoon WUTIP in Micronesia in 2019.
Ashore he served as the SUW/AW Weapons Division Officer at ATGPAC in San Diego, CA; the Navy Air and Missile Defense Command Integrated Air Missile Defense Weapons Tactics Instructor shop lead in Dahlgren, VA; and the Deputy Director of the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center-Integrated Air and Missile Defense in Dahlgren, VA.
CAPT Davis attended the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College, completing a Master’s Degree in Joint Operational Planning and the U.S. Army’s Space Officer course. He then completed a second Master’s Degree in Theater Operations at the U.S. Army’s School of Advance Military Studies (SAMS). Following this, CAPT Davis served as the Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
CAPT Davis is currently the Commanding Officer of the Amphibious Transport Dock, USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19).
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal (3), Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal (2), Non-Article 5 NATO Medal, and the French National Defence Medal (bronze echelon).
