Master Chief Glass enlisted in the Navy on September 7, 1995 in Muncie, IN. He completed Basic Training in November 1995 and went on to attend Operations Specialist “A” school. He graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, R.I. (Class 144), in 2009 and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course in 2010 (Class 80). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Roger Williams University in Public Administration.
Master Chief Glass served aboard USS CHOSIN (CG 65) and USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61) where he qualified as a Tactical Action Officer. In 2008, he deployed with Commander Destroyer Squadron Nine (CDS 9) where he served as a Staff Tactical Action Officer and Sea Combat Commander of Carrier Strike Group Nine. In 2011, he joined Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron TWO as the Assistant Operations Officer and Administration Officer. In 2013, he was selected as Command Senior Chief and completed an Individual Augmentation for Mine Countermeasure Crew SPARTAN embarked on USS CHAMPION (MCM 4) and USS SENTRY (MCM 3). Additional sea tours include CMC onboard USS STOUT (DDG 55) and CMC for USS GEORGE H.W. BUSH (CVN 77). He is currently assigned as CMC of Commander, Carrier Strike Group EIGHT.
Ashore, Master Chief served as an ASTAC Instructor at Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Command, San Diego, Ca. Additionally, he served as the War Gaming Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and the Staff Command Senior Chief at the Naval War College, Newport, RI. In 2014, he served with U.S. Fleet Forces Command as a facilitator for Fleet CPO Training Team and was selected as Command Master Chief. In 2016, he served as CMC with VAW-120 Greyhawks. His most recent assignment was with U.S. Fleet Forces as Lead Facilitator of the Fleet CPO Training Team.
In addition to his Enlisted Air Warfare, Expeditionary Warfare and Surface Warfare Pins, Master Chief Glass has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
