CMDCM Michael Knott, Jr. originally from Nashville, Tennessee, enlisted in the United States Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command in 1996.  In 1998, he reported aboard USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65) where he completed his first sea tour.  Upon completion, he reported to Nuclear Power Training Unit Charleston, SC where he was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2004 and received his Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology.  USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) was his follow-on tour where he assisted in the first home port change of a nuclear powered aircraft carrier to 7th Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan and was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer.  He reported to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in 2009 where he served as Reactor Propulsion and Reactor Mechanical LCPO and was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer.  Following this tour, he was chosen to become a member of the Surface Nuclear Power Mobile Training Team at CNAL.  USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) was his next tour of duty where he served as the Engineering Department Leading Chief Petty Officer.  Reporting for another CNAL staff tour, he was a member of N43’s 3M Training Team, N43 Senior Enlisted Advisor, and was selected for the Command Master Chief program.  CMDCM Knott reported as Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO TWO CMC in March of 2021 and completed a highly successful tour.

Knott reported as USS FORT LAUDERDALE (LPD 28) CMC in March of 2023.

His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Good Conduct Medal (8 awards).
