CMDCM Jarmine Westmoreland currently serves as Command Master Chief, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 2. He is a native of Philadelphia, PA who enlisted on January 31, 2002. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command and Engineman “A” school at Navy Training Command in Chicago, IL.
He was assigned to USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) from September 2002 to December 2007. He served as Work Center Supervisor and Leading Petty Officer in Auxiliary Division. He qualified Engineering Officer of the Watch and served as a member of the Engineering Training Team.
He was assigned to Naval Consolidated Brig Charleston from February 2008 to September 2010. He served as a Correctional Specialist, Command Duty Officer, and Security Section LCPO. In September 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and also qualified Master Correctional Specialist.
He was assigned to USS OAK HILL (LSD 51) from December 2010 to December 2014. He served as the Auxiliary Division LCPO, Machinery Division LCPO, and Engineering Department LCPO.
He was assigned to Afloat Training Group Norfolk from February 2015 to July 2017. There he served as Diesel Team LCPO and Engineering Departmental LCPO. He qualified Afloat Training Specialist and Master Training Specialist. In February 2017 he was selected for the Command Master Chief Program.
His personal awards include; Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Service Medal (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Service – Military Leadership from Excelsior College.
He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 181 (khaki) and a graduate of the Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat Capstone Course. He has served as Command Master Chief aboard USS TORTUGA (LSD 46), Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4 and USS Bataan (LHD 5).
