A native of Hampton, SC, he graduated from Norfolk State University in 1996. He received his Master of Business Administration from Troy University.

Captain Myers began his first sea duty assignment aboard USS Thorn (DD 988) where he served as Antisubmarine Warfare Officer. Subsequent sea assignments included: Main Propulsion Assistant on USS Nashville (LPD 13), Combat Systems and Weapons Officer on USS Mitscher (DDG 57). He served as the Executive Officer aboard USS Monterey (CG 61) when the ship completed the first ever Ballistic Missile deployment in support of the President’s Phase Adaptive Approach to the Ballistic Missile defense of Europe.  He served as Executive Officer and Commanding officer of USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) from Nov 2013 to Oct 2016.  During his tenure aboard, the ship deployed to the Arabian Gulf and conducted 30 TLAM strikes in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, received two consecutive Battle Effectiveness Awards and Golden Anchor Award for Retention.  Captain Myers also led the ship through a complex Baseline 9 Combat Systems Modernization and testing.

Following his command tour on the Arleigh Burke, Captain Myers took command of USS Anzio (CG 68) and led the ship through at-sea operations and induction into the Cruiser Modernization Program.  Captain Myers most recently completed a tour as Commander, Task Force Four Five, and Commodore, Destroyer Squadron Four Zero in Mayport, FL.

Captain Myers’ shore and staff assignments include tours as an Operational Test Director for Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force, as a Maritime OPS Planner for US Joint Forces Command in the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command and N32 Future Plans Branch Head at US Fleet Forces Command.

Captain Myers is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. His personal decorations include Legion of Merit (2), Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Forces Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), Navy Achievement Medal, Outstanding Civilian Volunteer Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (2) and various unit, campaign, and service awards
