Capt. Dave Guluzian is a native of San Marino, California. He attended the New Mexico Military Institute (Roswell, NM) prior to entering the United States Naval Academy. He graduated from USNA (B.S. in Physics) in 1991.
Capt. Guluzian's division officer tours were in USS PRINCETON (CG 59) as Ordnance Officer and in USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69) as Reactor Mechanical Division Officer. His department head tours were as Combat Systems Officer in USS OLDENDORF (DD 972) and as Main Propulsion Assistant in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68). He served as Executive Officer in USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) and Operations Officer in USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6).
Ashore, Capt. Guluzian served as a tactical warfare instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center, Pacific, as Executive Officer of the Nuclear Propulsion Mobile Training Team (Pacific) and Deputy Force Nuclear Propulsion Officer (Code: N9) on staff at Commander, Naval Air Forces Pacific, and as Deputy Commander of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Squadron. He completed a MBA at the University of San Diego in January of 2000.
Capt. Guluzian went on to command USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) from Aug 2008 to Aug 2010 leading the ship through two WESTPAC deployments and a visit by the Board of Inspection and Survey. He later served as Battalion Officer at the Naval Academy and as Branch Head, SWO(N) (PERS-424/41N) programs at Navy Personnel Command. He served as XO and CO in USS KEARSARGE (LHD 3) from Nov 2015 – Nov 2018 leading the ship through a C5F deployment, shipyard availability, pre-deployment training, and a 68-day disaster relief mission to USVI/Puerto Rico after hurricanes IRMA & MARIA.
Capt. Guluzian’s previous assignment was at U.S. Fleet Forces Command in force development (N85). His awards include the Legion of Merit (2 awards), Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (8 awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards).
