Cmdr. Mark Poblete is a native of Chesapeake, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Astronomy. He holds a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
CDR Poblete’s division officer tours were aboard USS Ashland (LSD 48) where he served as the 2nd Division Officer and then aboard USS Chosin (CG 65) where he served as the Damage Control Assistant. As a department head, he served as the Operations Officer for MCM Crew Bulwark and then as the Combat Systems Officer on USS Halsey (DDG 97).
Ashore, CDR Poblete was assigned as the Deputy Commander to the Counter Rocket Artillery and Mortar 7 Joint Intercept Battery 3 deploying to Basra, Iraq. He was then assigned to the Maritime Civil Affairs and Security Training Command where he deployed as a Maritime Civil Affairs Team Leader during Pacific Partnership 2011 and then again as a Civil Affairs Planner during Pacific Partnership 2012. Most recently, he served as the Lead Project Officer for Commander Naval Surface Forces Atlantic N44.
He is a recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
