Capt. Neil Koprowski

Capt. Neil Koprowski is a native of New York. He earned a Bachelor of Science in oceanography and received his commission in 1995 from the United States Naval Academy. He earned his MS in financial management from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California.
Capt. Koprowski’s assignments include USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) damage control assistant; USS Juneau (LPD 10)/USS Dubuque (LPD 8) combat information officer; USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60) and USS Anzio (CG 68) chief engineer; Carrier Strike Group (CCSG) 10 flag secretary; USS San Antonio (LPD 17) executive officer and commanding officer. During his command tour, his crew earned their second Battle Efficiency Award and successfully deployed as part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) to the U.S. 5th/6th Fleet Areas of Responsibility supporting Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 4 and the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).
His shore assignments include branch head for Fleet Readiness Integration at U.S. Fleet Forces Command, branch financial officer in OPNAV N96 Surface Warfare Division; ship/sub analyst and executive assistant in OPNAV N80 Programming Division; U.S. Joint Forces Command Deployable Training Team (J7) where he earned his Joint Qualified Officer designation; congressional liaison in the Office of the Under Secretary of the Navy for Appropriations Matters (FMBE).
He assumed his assignment as the executive officer of USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) in November 2018 and his current assignment as the ship’s commanding officer in January 2020.
Koprowski’s awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
